Nursing Home Administrator Continuing Education

Hours: 40 Hours
Frequency: Biennially

Before re-licensure, an individual shall submit satisfactory evidence of having completed a minimum of 40 hours, unless otherwise specified by State or federal law, of continuing education, approved by the Board, within the 2-year period before the re-licensure date.

The approval of the continuing education shall be at the discretion of the Board.

All continuing education shall be completed in courses approved by the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB).

Assisted Living Manager Continuing Education

Hours: 20 Hours
Frequency: Every 2 years

An assisted living manager employed in a program that is licensed for five or more beds shall complete 20 hours of Department-approved continuing education every 2 years.

Assisted Living Manager Annual Training

Hours: Topic Specific
Frequency: Annually

Receive initial and annual training in:
Fire and life safety;

1. Infection control, including standard precautions;

2. Emergency disaster plans; and

3. Basic food safety; and

4. Receive initial certification and recertification, when required for:

    1. Basic first aid by a certified first aid instructor; and

    2. Basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by a certified CPR instructor.

All Staff Continuing Education

Hours: Topic Specific
Frequency: Annually

Receive initial and annual training in:

a. Fire and life safety, including the use of fire extinguishers;

b. Infection control, including standard precautions, contact precautions, and hand hygiene;

c. Basic food safety;

d. Emergency disaster plans; and

e. Basic first aid by a certified first aid instructor;

Have training or experience in:

      a. The health and psychosocial needs of the population being served as appropriate to their job responsibilities;

      b. The resident assessment process;

      c. The use of service plans; and

      d. Resident's rights

All Staff Cognitive Impairment and Mental Illness Annual Training

Hours: Topic Specific
Frequency: Annually

Ongoing training in cognitive impairment and mental illness shall be provided annually consisting of, at a minimum:

      a. 2 hours for employees whose job duties involve the provision of personal care services as described in Regulation.  28D of this chapter; and

      b. 1 hour for employees whose job duties do not involve the provision of personal care services as described in Regulation. 28D of this chapter.
